We are looking for electricians experienced in smoke ventilation commissioning to join our team in London and the South East. Apply and advance your career in a professional environment.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Approved electrician or equivalent with at least 2 years of experience commissioning smoke ventilation systems, responsible for working with and site supervising team members, ensuring health and safety consciousness and providing feedback to management.
  • Demonstrate a strong work ethic, willingness to go the extra mile for the company and the customer, and inspire others to achieve high standards.
  • Manage projects to ensure they are completed on schedule.
  • Communicate effectively with customers and staff at all levels, maintaining FTG Ltd’s reputation.
  • Work across the UK (London, South East, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland), including periodic stop overs and overtime.
  • Perform planned preventive maintenance (PPM) on smoke ventilation systems in line with contract scopes, manufacturer guidance, and applicable standards.
  • Use FTG company software to raise and communicate quote requirements to the office, including clear scope, asset details, diagnosis, remedial actions, parts/materials, and supporting photos/notes.

Decision-Making Authority and Health & Safety Powers:

  • Commissioning changes: authorised to implement and adjust parameters where required.
  • Stop works: authorised to stop works under your control when unsafe conditions, non-conformances or quality issues are identified.
  • Right to refuse unsafe work: empowered to refuse any task compromising safety.
  • Reporting and records: required to document decisions in company systems and brief affected parties.

Main Duties:

  • Wire, fix and commission a range of smoke ventilation systems.
  • Ensure systems are fully operable on every condition listed on the commissioning report.
  • Understand all relevant legislation & British Standards.
  • Ensure compliance with standards and guidance in all work.
  • Manage installations of any size, ensuring correct design and standards.
  • Maintain the company vehicle (if provided) in accordance with company policy.
  • Exercise delegated authority to make commissioning changes, stop works, or refuse unsafe work, and record and elevate actions.
  • Perform other reasonable requests from FTG management.

Job Skills & Qualifications:

  • Current, full clean driving licence; NVQ Electrical installations or equivalent.
  • SSSTS or Higher.
  • Rooftop Safety/Work Restraint training (SpanSet).
  • PASMA (Towers).
  • IPAF (Mobile Vertical 3a, Mobile Boom 3b).
  • Working knowledge of Approved Document B, BS EN 12101, BS 9999, BS 9991 & BS 7346 pt 8.
  • SE Controls training programme Level 1 to Level 6.
  • Working knowledge/experience of Colt, SCS, FDS and other equipment.
  • Electrically certified and able to evidence qualifications and experience.
