FT Recruitment Group are recruiting on behalf of our client for a Senior Legal Contracts Specialist based in Westhill, Aberdeenshire on a Permanent, Full Time basis, with Hybrid working available. In this role you will be working closely with the Senior Commercial Manager to support with contract reviews, drafting contracts with great attention to detail as well as be client facing with contract negotiations. The ideal candidate will have a strong legal background within private practice or within the energy sector who is eagerly searching for their next challenge. Our client is looking for the successful candidate to be collaborative, a strong team player who enjoys working closely with operational, commercial and technical stakeholders on complex offshore and vessel-related matters.
Main duties include:
- Draft, review and negotiate complex commercial and maritime contracts, including framework agreements, charter parties, NDAs and contractual amendments
- Advise on non-standard terms, guarantees, warranties, claims and contractual risk
- Support long-term vessel charter arrangements (time and bareboat charters)
- Oversee contractual/commercial aspects of major vessel CAPEX projects and upgrades
- Manage complex vessel transactions (sale, purchase, recycling, flag transfer)
- Collaborate with internal functions to ensure legal, tax, HR, finance, and compliance alignment
- Improve contracting processes, approvals, and governance frameworks
- Identify gaps and enhance tools, templates, and workflows
- Deliver training on contract processes and systems
- Mentor team members and build contractual capability
- Build strong relationships across Offshore Delivery and corporate functions
Suitable candidates should have the following:
- Extensive experience in a senior contracts or legal role. This could be within a legal firm and/or within the energy sector
- Experience within offshore, marine, energy or engineering environments is highly desirable
- Strong contract drafting, review and negotiation capability across commercial and maritime agreements.
- Degree in Law, Business Management or a related discipline; professional or postgraduate legal qualification advantageous
- Commercially astute with a pragmatic approach to risk management.
- Confident communicator, able to influence across technical, operational and commercial teams.
- Experience working with enterprise systems and CLM tools such as SAP and Ariba is beneficial
