FT Recruitment are supporting our client to recruit for an experienced Materials Controller to join their growing team. In this role you will be working in the stores department combining hands-on materials handling with stock control and ERP administration responsibilities. You will work closely with the production and workshop personnel and will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day operation of the stores, assisting employees with the materials and consumables they require, maintaining accurate stock records, and helping to ensure materials are available when needed.
Duties
- Receive, inspect and store incoming materials and deliveries
- Issue materials, consumables and equipment to employees and production teams
- Assist with loading, unloading and movement of stock within the stores and yard areas
- Maintain accurate inventory records using the company's ERP system
- Process goods received notes and stock transactions
- Conduct stock checks and cycle counts to ensure inventory accuracy
- Monitor stock levels and highlight replenishment requirements
- Support material traceability and certification control where required
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping, organisation and safety within the stores and yard
- Work closely with Production, Purchasing and Operations to ensure materials are available when required
Experience
- Proven experience in warehouse management, materials handling, supply chain or logistics environments
- Strong knowledge of ERP systems is highly desirable
- Knowledge of steel products and materials and experience of material certification and traceability processes would be advantageous
- Hands-on experience operating forklifts and performing heavy lifting safely in a warehouse setting
- Strong communications skills and excellent attention to detail
- Strong IT skills such as Microsoft packages
- Valid FLT (Forklift Truck) license (desirable)
- Experience within an engineering, manufacturing or fabrication environment (desirable)
