FT Recruitment is partnering with a well-established, forward-thinking organisation to recruit an experienced Payroll Manager to lead and develop their growing payroll function. This is a senior, visible role within a quality-driven environment that places strong emphasis on service, governance, and continuous improvement.

As Payroll Manager, you will take ownership of the end-to-end payroll, leading a high-performing team while ensuring accurate, compliant, and efficient delivery. You will play a key role in shaping the future direction of the payroll offering, contributing both operationally and strategically as the service continues to evolve.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing payroll team, embedding a culture of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure accurate, compliant payroll delivery through strong oversight and up-to-date knowledge of UK payroll and tax legislation.
  • Drive operational efficiency by improving payroll processes, controls, and workflows.
  • Support the growth and evolution of the payroll service across new and existing clients.
  • Build trusted relationships, providing proactive insight and leading regular service reviews.

The successful candidate will have proven experience managing and developing teams within a payroll or similar environment. They will also hold technical expertise in UK payroll legislation and compliance, whilst having excellent communication skills with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels. Holding a recognised payroll qualification (CIPP) would be beneficial, although not essential. Any exposure to IRIS Payroll and/or PayCircle is advantageous.
