The role will focus on managing smaller client payrolls, with full ownership of the end-to-end payroll process.
Key Duties:
- Manage a portfolio of smaller client payrolls from start to finish
- Process weekly and monthly payrolls accurately and within agreed deadlines
- Handle all aspects of the payroll lifecycle, including starters, leavers, salary changes, statutory payments and deductions
- Process pension auto-enrolment, opt-ins, opt-outs and pension contributions
- Review and reconcile payroll reports, investigating and resolving discrepancies
- Prepare and submit payroll information and statutory reports to HMRC and relevant pension providers
- Deal directly with client payroll queries, providing a professional and responsive service
- Maintain accurate and confidential payroll records in line with GDPR requirements
- Assist with year-end payroll processes, including P60s and other statutory requirements
- Keep up to date with changes to payroll legislation and ensure client payrolls remain compliant
- Work closely with the wider accounts and tax teams to deliver a joined-up service to clients
- Provide general payroll advice and support to clients as required
We’re looking for someone with previous payroll experience and a strong understanding of end-to-end payroll processing. You’ll be comfortable managing multiple client payrolls, keeping up to date with HMRC legislation and statutory requirements, and handling pension auto-enrolment. Strong attention to detail, numeracy and organisation are essential, alongside the ability to manage your own workload and meet deadlines. Excellent communication skills and a positive, client-focused approach are important, with payroll software experience being an advantage.
