FT Recruitment is seeking an experienced Transport Supervisor to oversee and coordinate transportation operations within our organisation. The ideal candidate will possess strong supervisory skills, extensive knowledge of logistics and supply chain management, and proficiency with various systems such as ERP, Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), and transportation management systems. This role involves ensuring efficient shipping and receiving processes, managing third-party logistics (3PL) providers, and driving continuous process improvements to optimise overall transportation performance. This role offers an opportunity to lead a dynamic team within a fast-paced environment dedicated to continuous improvement in logistics operations while ensuring high standards of safety and efficiency are maintained throughout all activities.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily transportation activities, including shipping, receiving, and freight handling.
  • Oversee the utilisation of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), ERP systems, and AS400 to ensure accurate tracking and reporting of inventory and shipments.
  • Manage relationships with 3PL providers to ensure service levels meet organisational standards.
  • Coordinate with warehouse teams to optimise storage, loading, and unloading operations.
  • Monitor profit & loss metrics related to transportation costs; identify areas for cost reduction and efficiency improvements.
  • Implement process improvements within the supply chain to enhance productivity and reduce waste.
  • Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations during all transportation activities.
  • Utilise forklift trucks and other warehouse equipment safely for material handling as needed.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives aimed at streamlining logistics workflows and enhancing overall operational efficiency.
  • Prepare reports on transportation performance, including KPIs related to delivery times, costs, and service quality.

Requirements

  • Proven supervising experience within logistics or warehouse environments.
  • Strong understanding of profit & loss management in relation to transportation operations.
  • Experience with transportation management systems, ERP systems, WMS, and AS400 platforms.
  • Knowledge of supply chain processes, shipping & receiving procedures, and warehouse management practices.
  • Familiarity with forklift operation and warehouse safety protocols.
  • Demonstrated ability in process improvement initiatives within logistics or supply chain functions.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently.
  • Strong communication skills for effective team leadership and stakeholder engagement.
  • Previous experience working with 3PL providers is highly desirable.
