We have an opening for a UK-based freelance web designer to support our growing florist website business. We create websites for florists across the UK, and the successful candidate would work alongside Alisha, one of our freelancers, who helps guide new florists through the service and supports the design and setup of their website.

This is a part-time freelance role, typically around 1 to 4 hours per day. It would suit someone who is usually available between 10am and 4pm, Monday to Friday, as some tasks are best handled during normal florist business hours. The hours are flexible depending on the type of task. For example, calls and live platform tours are ideally done between 10am and 4pm Monday to Friday, while email communication and website design work can often be completed at other times.

Pay: £14 to £17 per hour or more, depending on experience.

Typical work includes:

  • Communicating with new florists, mainly by email and occasionally by phone
  • Explaining our service and offering a short 10 to 15 minute tour of the platform (training provided)
  • Creating and designing florist websites based on the florist's existing branding, or producing simple branding where needed
  • Adding website content, excluding products, such as homepage text, service pages, and images
  • Providing basic guidance on how to use the platform, with more technical questions passed to other team members
  • Setting up key SEO basics, including main keywords and delivery areas
  • Connecting and launching the website on the florist's domain

There may also be opportunities to help with related work such as social media content and promotion.

Skills required:

  • Able to learn a new platform
  • Competent in graphic design
  • Reliable and organised
  • Patient and thoughtful with new customers
  • Comfortable learning the basics of SEO
  • Strong written communication skills
  • Comfortable speaking with customers by phone when needed

Perks:

  • Flexible working around most tasks
  • Freelance role with scope to grow
  • No cold sales involved
  • Friendly small team
  • Opportunity for increased responsibility and higher pay over time
  • A strong platform that customers genuinely enjoy using

If you have any questions, I would be pleased to hear from you.

Kind regards,
Tom
