We are seeking an experienced User Researcher / Product Designer to join our Change and Adoption team and support the delivery of user centred digital products and services across a portfolio of transformation initiatives. The ideal candidate will work closely with multidisciplinary delivery teams, programme stakeholders and leadership teams to ensure user needs are understood, prioritised and translated into practical, scalable and measurable design outcomes. The successful candidate will bring strong expertise across user research and product design, with the ability to operate effectively in large, complex and regulated environments.

Responsibilities

  • User Research & Insight
    • Plan, conduct and synthesise qualitative and quantitative user research activities.
    • Identify user needs, pain points, behaviours and opportunities through interviews, workshops, usability testing, surveys and observational research.
    • Translate research findings into actionable insights that inform product, service and operational decisions.
    • Develop and maintain research artefacts including personas, journey maps, service blueprints and insight repositories.
  • Product & UX Design
    • Produce wireframes, prototypes, user journeys and interaction flows.
    • Collaborate closely with product managers, business analysts, architects and engineering teams to shape solutions from discovery through delivery.
    • Apply design standards, accessibility principles and design system components consistently.
  • UCD Governance
    • Support the establishment and embedding of consistent UCD practices across programmes and portfolios.
    • Promote user centred thinking and design maturity across stakeholders and delivery teams.
    • Contribute to the evolution of reusable frameworks, templates and best practice approaches.

About you

  • Advanced expertise in prototyping tools (Figma/ Adobe XD)
  • Proven ability to work with clients across industries, understanding business challenges and translating them into impactful design solutions that support digital transformation.
  • Experience in mentoring early career designers, setting design standards, and influencing stakeholders at senior levels.
  • Strong organisational skills with a track record of managing multiple high‑stakes projects in fast‑paced organisations.
  • Experience working within regulated industries such as energy, utilities, finance or public sector.
