Overview
The company is a PE-backed business operating in the energy sector, creating a new category and entering a critical phase of growth following the successful completion of its Series B funding round. As the business scales, the CEO requires a senior, highly trusted partner to help translate strategy into execution, drive operational discipline, and ensure the organisation is built to meet PE-backed expectations. This is a true Chief of Staff role - not an EA, not a project manager. You will operate at the centre of the business, with visibility across strategy, execution, and performance.
Why This Role Now
- Recently PE-backed with Series B capital to support accelerated growth
- Increasing organisational complexity across markets, products, and teams
- Founder-led execution requiring institutionalisation and operating cadence
- Heightened expectations around governance, reporting, and delivery
The Role
You will:
- Act as a strategic right-hand partner to the CEO, supporting decision-making and prioritisation
- Drive execution against strategic initiatives, ensuring momentum and accountability
- Establish operating cadence across leadership forums (OKRs, exec rhythm, board prep)
- Translate PE and board expectations into clear internal actions and timelines
- Lead cross-functional initiatives that cut across Product, Commercial, Ops, Legal, and Finance
- Identify gaps, risks, and bottlenecks early and resolve them before they escalate
- Support fundraising, investor relations, and board materials as required
This role blends strategy, operations, and execution - with the mandate to make the business run better, faster, and more predictably.
What Success Looks Like
- Clear execution rhythm across the leadership team
- Improved speed and quality of decision-making at the top of the business
- Strong alignment between strategy, resourcing, and delivery
- Board and PE stakeholders confident in governance and execution discipline
- A CEO who is freed up to focus on the highest-value activities
Candidate Profile
This role is ideally suited to candidates coming from a PE or VC environment who understand how to support high-growth businesses through scale and change.
Must have:
- Experience in a PE or VC house, portfolio operations, or a closely related role
- Strong exposure to senior stakeholders, boards, and investment committees
- Proven ability to drive execution across complex, fast-moving environments
- Exceptional organisational, communication, and prioritisation skills
- High commercial judgement and comfort operating with ambiguity
Nice to have:
- Experience working with founder-led or Series B+ businesses
- Background in energy, infrastructure, fintech, or similarly complex sectors
- Experience supporting international or US expansion
