Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Security Maintenance Engineer to join our technical operations team. In this role, you will be responsible for the planned preventative maintenance (PPM), routine servicing, fault diagnosis, and reactive repairs of integrated electronic security systems across key client sites. You will serve as a primary technical contact on-site, ensuring optimal system performance, regulatory compliance, and minimal operational downtime.

Key Responsibilities

  • System Maintenance & Servicing: Execute scheduled PPM and reactive maintenance across CCTV (IP and analogue), Access Control, Intruder Alarm, and Fire Detection systems.
  • Fault Diagnosis & Repair: Methodically investigate, diagnose, and resolve hardware, software, and cabling issues across all integrated security sub-systems.
  • Compliance & Inspection: Perform routine testing in strict accordance with industry standards (e.g., NSI, SSAIB, BS 5839, BS 7858) and ensure all regulatory documentation is accurately completed.
  • Client & Stakeholder Management: Provide high-quality customer service, offering technical support, operational training, and detailed maintenance reports to client management.
  • Emergency Response: Participate in an on-call rota to deliver out-of-hours emergency support and rapid response for high-priority incidents.
  • System Upgrades: Assist in small-works installations, firmware updates, software patches, and system reconfigurations as required.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Technical Experience: Proven track record as a Maintenance or Service Engineer within the electronic security industry.
  • Core Systems Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of major security platforms (e.g., Hikvision, Axis, Lenel, Paxton, Texecom, Honeywell, Galaxy).
  • Networking & IT: Working knowledge of basic IP networking concepts (IP addressing, routers, switches, network video recorders).
  • Certifications: Relevant industry qualifications (e.g., NVQ Level 3 in Security Systems, City & Guilds) and valid health and safety certifications (CSCS / ECS card).
  • Compliance & Screening: Ability to pass full background screening and security vetting (BS 7858 / DBS check).
  • Driving License: Full, clean UK/relevant driver's license.

Desirable Skills

  • Basic understanding of fire alarm systems and emergency lighting maintenance.
  • Experience working in high-security, critical national infrastructure (CNI), or corporate environments.
  • Manufacturer certifications for specific access control or VMS platforms.
