Main duties of the job:

  • Provide high-quality, patient-centred care during a regular weekly Monday session (8 hours).
  • Undertake face-to-face and telephone consultations, assess, diagnose and manage a wide range of acute and long-term conditions.
  • Work collaboratively with our multidisciplinary team to deliver safe and effective care.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records, manage test results and correspondence, and participate in clinical governance activities to support continuous improvement.

Job responsibilities:

  • Undertake face-to-face, telephone and online consultations as appropriate.
  • Assess, diagnose and manage acute and chronic medical conditions.
  • Prescribe medications and treatments in accordance with national and local guidelines.
  • Make appropriate referrals to secondary care and other healthcare providers.
  • Review and act upon laboratory results, clinical correspondence and other patient-related documentation.
  • Provide health promotion and preventative care advice to patients.
  • Maintain accurate, contemporaneous and comprehensive patient records using the practice clinical system.
  • Participate in the management of long-term conditions and chronic disease monitoring.
  • Undertake home visits where clinically appropriate and agreed.
  • Work collaboratively with nursing, administrative and wider multidisciplinary teams.
  • Support safeguarding responsibilities for children and vulnerable adults in accordance with practice policies.
  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and clinical governance activities.
  • Participate in practice meetings and multidisciplinary discussions where appropriate.
  • Support the achievement of Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF) and other contractual requirements.

Professional responsibilities:

  • Maintain registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) and comply with revalidation requirements.
  • Adhere to GMC Good Medical Practice guidance.
  • Maintain professional competence through continuing professional development (CPD).
  • Work within NHS and practice policies, procedures and clinical governance frameworks.
  • Ensure confidentiality is maintained at all times in accordance with data protection legislation and practice policies.
  • Act in a manner that promotes equality, diversity and inclusion.

Health and safety:

  • Comply with all health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Report incidents, accidents and near misses appropriately.
  • Take reasonable care for your own health and safety and that of colleagues and patients.

Person specification:

  • Fully qualified General Practitioner.
  • Inclusion on the NHS England Medical Performers List.
  • Full registration and licence to practise with the GMC.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Commitment to delivering high-quality patient-centred care.
  • Understanding of clinical governance and quality improvement.

Desirable:

  • Experience working within UK General Practice.

Qualifications:

  • Qualified General Practitioner (MBBS, MBChB or equivalent medical degree).
  • Full registration and licence to practise with the General Medical Council (GMC).
  • Included on the NHS England Medical Performers List.
  • Eligible to work in the UK.
  • Evidence of ongoing Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
  • Excellent clinical assessment, diagnostic and decision-making skills.
