FryerMiles are delighted to be working with an exciting SME Consultancy to assist with their recruitment of a DV cleared Data Scientist to work on a 6 month rolling contract (long term opportunity). The successful candidate will support the development, optimisation, and sustainment of advanced AI and machine learning solutions in a defence environment. You will work on mission critical capabilities, helping deliver data driven insights, improve operational effectiveness, and support secure, reliable decision‑making.

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop, maintain, and improve machine learning models for operational use.
  • Support the deployment and optimisation of AI solutions in production.
  • Build scalable data pipelines and workflows to support model performance.
  • Work with engineers, analysts, and stakeholders to develop new features and use cases.
  • Ensure solutions meet security, regulatory, and ethical standards.
  • Contribute to resilient, maintainable, and high performing AI systems.

Essential skills:

  • Strong Python programming skills.
  • Experience building and deploying machine learning models.
  • Knowledge of MLOps tools such as MLflow, Airflow, Docker, and Kubernetes.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools such as GitLab or Jenkins.
  • Understanding of Data Engineering, ETL, and scalable system design.
  • Ability to work effectively in secure, complex, and regulated environments.
  • Must hold valid DV Clearance.

Desirable skills:

  • Experience in computer vision or imagery analysis.
  • Familiarity with defence, national security, or government programmes.
  • Understanding of responsible AI and secure system delivery.
