FryerMiles are delighted to be working with a leading Managed Service Provider to assist with their recruitment of a Field Engineer to join their growing team supporting clients across Orpington and the surrounding areas across Kent. The successful candidate will have strong technical installation skills, excellent attention to detail, and a proactive approach to delivering IT infrastructure projects.

The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out on-site installations, structured cabling, hardware deployments, infrastructure upgrades, and providing technical support across a variety of client environments.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Install servers, switches, firewalls, patch panels, power equipment and other hardware into communications and server racks
  • Complete structured cabling, including terminating, patching, labelling and testing network cabling
  • Carry out installation and deployment tasks as part of client infrastructure projects
  • Install and configure desktops, laptops, printers, wireless access points and other IT equipment
  • Troubleshoot hardware, connectivity, cabling and infrastructure issues, escalating where required
  • Test installed equipment and network connections to ensure successful project delivery
  • Produce accurate installation documentation, including rack layouts, cabling schedules and handover notes including technical updates and time within ConnectWise
  • Conduct site surveys, documenting rack space, cabling routes, power availability and equipment locations
  • Participate in occasional out-of-hours project work and support as required

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a Field Engineer, Infrastructure Engineer or similar IT installation role within an MSP
  • Hands-on experience installing equipment into communications and server racks
  • Strong knowledge of structured cabling, network patching, labelling and cable testing
  • Experience installing and supporting switches, firewalls, wireless access points and other network infrastructure
  • Ability to produce accurate technical documentation, including rack diagrams and cabling schedules
  • Experience using ConnectWise or a similar service management/ticketing system
