Director of Engineering Operations – Permanent – £100,000 - Worcester – Hybrid FryerMiles are working with a specialist engineering business to recruit a Director of Engineering Operations to join their senior leadership team in Worcester. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and optimising the operational performance of the engineering function, ensuring the successful delivery of high-integrity software and firmware programmes while driving operational scalability, commercial performance and continued business growth. Key Responsibilities: Lead the operational strategy and performance of the engineering function. Oversee the successful delivery of multiple concurrent engineering programmes and projects. Ensure projects achieve agreed quality, schedule, budget and client objectives. Lead resource forecasting, utilisation, capacity planning and project prioritisation. Establish and maintain effective delivery governance, risk management and operational KPIs. Drive continuous improvement across engineering processes, systems, tooling and delivery. Lead and develop engineering managers and multidisciplinary technical teams. Oversee recruitment, workforce planning, performance management and succession planning. Manage operational profitability, project gross margins, utilisation and delivery efficiency. Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients and senior stakeholders. Support business development through bids, proposals, estimates and executive-level client engagement. Identify opportunities to grow existing client accounts and support new business. Provide operational, financial, project and risk reporting to the Managing Director and Board. Develop scalable operating structures and engineering capabilities to support continued business growth. Essential Experience: Senior leadership / Director-level experience within a high-integrity software and/or firmware engineering environment. Strong engineering operations and delivery leadership experience. Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams across multiple concurrent projects. Strong commercial experience including budgets, project profitability, gross margin and utilisation. Experience with resource planning, delivery governance and operational risk management. Proven experience developing and implementing operational strategies and continuous improvement initiatives. Strong client-facing experience including senior stakeholder management and executive reporting. Experience supporting bids, proposals, estimates and business development. Experience leading teams through business growth, change and operational scaling. Experience within a consultancy, engineering services or project-based delivery environment would be advantageous.
