Fruitnet is searching for a skilled and motivated junior staff writer to join its editorial team, writing news and features for its international publications, with a focus on its UK title, Fresh Produce Journal. NCTJ or equivalent journalistic training is required.

The Fruitnet group delivers expert coverage and analysis of the entire global fresh produce industry, reporting on developments in all major markets via an international network of reporters.

Daily tasks for the new recruit will include:

  • Writing online news from press releases
  • Finding original news stories
  • Building industry contacts
  • Researching and writing magazine features

There will also be opportunities to:

  • Visit companies across the fresh produce industry, both in the UK and internationally
  • Attend press trips
  • Moderate sessions and conduct interviews at Fruitnet conferences and events
  • Create online video content
  • Appear on the Fresh Produce Journal Podcast

It is a hybrid role, and you will be expected to go into our London office (in Nine Elms) on Wednesdays, along with the rest of the team. The rest of the time you can either work from home or the office if/when you prefer. Proximity to London is a plus.

Prior knowledge of the fresh produce industry isn’t required, but we are looking for an inquisitive self-starter who is keen to learn and build contacts.
