This opportunity suits an experienced Security Engineer who enjoys influencing platform and solution design at an early stage. Working within a large-scale technology environment, this role focuses on threat modelling, architectural security assurance and guiding teams towards secure, compliant outcomes.
Security Engineer Responsibilities:
- Threat model platform and solution designs to identify security risks and recommend appropriate mitigations.
- Review and approve network access requests, ensuring leastâprivilege and secureâbyâdesign principles are applied.
- Assess project, platform and architectural design documentation to identify security gaps, weaknesses or inappropriate design choices.
- Provide security assurance for solutions hosted in AWS, ensuring alignment with cloud security best practices and internal standards.
- Work closely with architects, senior engineers and DevOps teams to influence secure outcomes without disrupting delivery.
- Provide clear, pragmatic guidance on whether proposed designs meet internal security standards and are fit for purpose.
- Ensure all solutions align with established security policies, frameworks and organisational security standards.
- Act as a trusted security advisor, capable of constructively challenging technical decisions while maintaining strong stakeholder relationships.
Security Engineer Requirements:
- Proven experience in information or cyber security roles within complex, modern technology environments.
- Strong handsâon experience with threat modelling methodologies and secure architecture review.
- Solid understanding of platform, cloud and network security principles, including AWS environments.
- Ability to interpret and challenge technical designs produced by architects, engineers and DevOps teams.
- Experience reviewing access controls, network configurations and platformâlevel security decisions.
- Excellent communication skills, with the confidence to redirect technical approaches while remaining collaborative.
- Knowledge of security standards, governance and risk management practices.
