The role sits at the intersection of hands-on technical depth and strategic architectural decision-making, working across both engineering teams and senior stakeholders to bring clarity, structure, and direction to an evolving data landscape.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead a comprehensive discovery and assessment of an existing data platform and architecture
- Map current-state data systems and identify gaps, risks, and dependencies
- Evaluate alignment between existing architecture and future-state data strategy
- Provide clear, structured recommendations to support strategic decision-making
- Work hands-on with data engineers where required
- Engage with senior stakeholders, including C-suite, to communicate findings and influence direction
- Assess data pipelines, integrations, and platform components across Azure technologies
- Support definition of roadmap and next steps following discovery phase
Job Requirements
- Proven experience in leadership positions
- Strong background in data architecture assessment, discovery, or technical review work
- Hands-on expertise with Azure data platforms (Databricks, Synapse, Fabric)
- Strong programming skills in SQL, Python, and PySpark
- Knowledge of streaming technologies (Kafka, Azure Event Hubs)
- ETL experience using Azure Data Factory
- Strong stakeholder management skills, including experience working with senior leadership
- Ability to operate in complex, evolving environments
