As a Web Developer at FruitCast, you’ll be responsible for creating, improving, and maintaining our web application. You’ll collaborate closely with data scientists, agronomists, and product managers to deliver intuitive, performant web interfaces and backend services that empower farmers with actionable insights. We are looking for someone who can hit the ground running and help shape the digital backbone of our agritech solutions.

Work Arrangements and Start Date

  • Immediate start preferred, with a target start date by February 2025.
  • Remote work options available upon successful completion of probation; flexible hybrid model thereafter.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain our React front-end application to provide a seamless user experience.
  • Implement and enhance backend services using Python (FastAPI or similar) to handle data processing, APIs, and logic.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate complex requirements into user-friendly features.
  • Implement robust tests for your work to ensure robustness.
  • Continuously optimise applications for speed, scalability, and security.
  • Troubleshoot issues, maintain documentation, and ensure code quality.

Essentials

  • Minimum 2 years of hands-on web development experience.
  • Experience with a front-end web framework (React preferred).
  • Experience with a back-end framework (Python FastAPI or similar).
  • Proficiency in version control (Git) and modern development practices (CI/CD).
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Nice to Have

  • Proficiency in TypeScript to enhance code quality and maintainability.
  • Experience with geospatial technologies and libraries such as MapLibre or Mapbox.
  • Familiarity with PostgreSQL or similar databases.
  • Understanding of microservices architectures.
