Position: Full Stack Engineer (Javascript/React) Location: Remote Engagement: Part-Time (10 hours per week) Compensation: Equity + Deferred Compensation Website: https://www.fruitstreet.com/ About Our Diabetes Prevention Startup – Fruit Street Health Fruit Street Health is a U.S. digital health startup whose mission is to help the 1 in 3 Americans with prediabetes avoid developing Type 2 diabetes via telehealth with dietitians. We deliver a CDC-recognized diabetes prevention program that includes: 22 1-hour long classes on Zoom with a registered dietitian and group of other participants Wireless scale integrated to our app to track weight loss progress Take photos of your food in the app to get feedback from a dietitian Integrates with Fitbit/Apple Watch Text message with a dietitian/coach Medically tailored food delivered to your home. This is a video of our product: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rTujudQ_-zE&t=1s Our Revenue History We have generated more than $7 million of revenue from more than 45,000 patients who enrolled into our program since 2017. We previously raised $35M+ of capital from hundreds of physician investors, but we recently lost our major customer so our revenue dropped from $4M to $0 revenue. This is because the competing company built a competing product with stolen IP and we had to sue them for $25 million. The litigation is ongoing. For this reason, we are looking for full stack engineers willing to work for sweat equity + deferred comp while we ramp up again. Medicare recently approved us as a diabetes prevention program so our program is free for anyone over the age of 65 with prediabetes and Medicare will pay us up to $768 per participant. If we can enroll 10,000 Medicare patients per month, we should be able to get to $50M of revenue. The company is based in the US, but is in the process of expanding to the UK and aims to work with the National Health Service (DigitalHealth.London accelerator program alumni with the NHS). This is a press release on our work with the NHS: https://digitalhealth.london/fruit-street-health-expands-its-diabetes-prevention-program-to-the-uk Our Engineering Team We currently have one full time full stack engineer and one part-time mobile engineer. We are looking for a second full stack web developer (Javascript/React) to compliment our engineering team as we ramp up major partnerships. Qualifications 2+ years of experience as a full stack developer Must know javascript/react Must have startup experience Must be willing to work for sweat equity + deferred comp until more funding/revenue is secured (estimate 6 months until funding is secured). Your hours will be tracked in a spreadsheet and you will be paid in full when more funding is secured. Our Values We are a public benefit corporation and a company focused on having a social impact in public health. You should join our company if you are a talented developer that cares passionately about preventive medicine and helping people through technology. Our CEO is an alumni of Harvard and London Business School who is passionate about preventing Type 2 diabetes via telehealth. We’re looking for engineers that are ready to join our mission of preventing Type 2 diabetes!
