Logistics Manager in Chatteris

FGA is a grower owned business, formed in 2009 by two of Chile's most respected grower exporters, San Clemente and Gesex. In February 2020 FGA Farming purchased the largest UK Cherry Farm, the award winning orchards of Norton & Owens Court after a few years of working closely with those farms. The farms are located in Kent, "the Garden of England", sitting either side of the town of Faversham. In 2021, a new partner, Purafruit, joined, increasing our strength in grapes. The open, transparent, direct model, with full crop marketing means that some additional growers also use the FGA service.
The Logistics Manager is responsible for the effective management and day-to-day execution of FGA's UK and European logistics operations, ensuring the timely, accurate and compliant movement of fresh produce from origin through to customer delivery.
This is a hands-on management position within a small logistics team. The successful candidate will manage the Logistics Coordinator while remaining actively involved in the daily operational workload, including shipment planning, documentation, ERP management, transport coordination, customer communication and issue resolution.
Key responsibilities:
Logistics Management & Planning
· Own and coordinate the day-to-day logistics operation across UK and European shipments.
· Plan and coordinate the movement, storage and distribution of fresh produce from origin through to customer delivery.
· Monitor shipment and vessel schedules, identifying potential delays or operational issues and communicating these.
· Ensure logistics activities are planned in line with customer requirements, agreed programmes and available stock.
· Act as the first point of contact for daily logistics communications with external warehouses and service providers in the UK and Netherlands.
· Develop effective working relationships with transport providers, shipping lines, clearing agents, and warehouses.
· Remain hands-on and actively involved in the daily operational workload, providing cover and support where required.
Day-to-Day Logistics Operations
· Raise purchase orders in the ERP system and ensure all required supplier documentation is received and correct.
