FRS are recruiting an Assistant Accountant for an SME business based near Gravelly Hill, Birmingham. The role will report into & work alongside the Finance Director and will have a salary attached around £35k, potentially flexible depending on experience.

Responsibilities include:

  • Manage all accounting operations: accounts payable/receivable, general ledger, payroll, and month/year-end support for a group business (5 companies).
  • Prepare and present financial statements & management reports.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis to support business planning.
  • Maintain and optimise finance systems, with a focus on QuickBooks (or similar systems knowledge such as Xero or Sage).
  • Strong MS Excel experience would be an advantage for data analytics and reporting.
  • Mentor and supervise an AAT apprentice, supporting their development and day-to-day tasks.
