Role overview

  • The Financial Controller is a senior-level role responsible for overseeing the financial stewardship of the organisation.
  • Including but not limited to accurate financial reporting, compliance with regulatory requirements, and strategic financial planning.
  • Reporting to the Head of Finance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Statutory accounts of the group and all entities including compliance of IFRS.
  • Support M&A activity and investment analysis, to include acquisition accounting and papers.
  • Controllership tasks including balance sheet reconciliations and ownership.
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting to stakeholders.
  • Oversee Corporation Tax and VAT computations and process for all entities.
  • Responsible for ensuring timely filing of entity accounts.
  • Assist in the integration of newly acquired businesses from a finance perspective.
  • Liaise with external auditors and regulatory bodies.
  • International accounting for overseas businesses including transfer pricing agreements.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.
  • Champion automation, technology and process improvements to minimize manual effort and increase the speed and accuracy of all accounting processes.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, HR, and executive leadership.
  • Strong relationship with external auditors and 3rd party advisors.
  • Regular liaison with all members of the Finance team.
  • There will be interaction with the wider Central Services Group and FRP Office Network (Partners and Colleagues).

Qualifications

  • Qualified Chartered Accountant – ACA/ACCA or equivalent.
  • Needs c. 2 years post qualification experience (PQE) in industry (outside practice).
  • Excellent IT Skills particularly advanced Excel.
  • IFRS Technical knowledge including preparing Statutory Accounts.
  • Listed plc reporting (i.e. share accounting, dividend flow).
  • High attention to detail and organisational prowess.
