Role overview
FRP Advisory is seeking a proactive and technically proficient Assistant Manager to join our Restructuring Advisory team. This role is suited to professionals with a strong foundation in insolvency casework and the ability to lead assignments, manage stakeholders, and mentor junior colleagues.
You will take ownership of a portfolio of corporate insolvency cases, including administrations, liquidations, and bankruptcies. You’ll be expected to lead case strategy, ensure compliance with statutory obligations, and contribute to business development and internal process improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently manage a portfolio of corporate insolvency cases (Trading and Pre-Pack ADMs, CVLs, and CVAs)
- Taking a lead role on smaller CVL/MVL/administration (pre-pack) engagements, managing the cases from cradle to grave and reporting directly to the partner with minimal support from more senior colleagues
- Lead case planning, strategy, and execution with minimal supervision
- Confidence to carry out redundancies
- Ability to interpret legislation around key areas such as retention of title, requisite fee / proposal approval procedures, rights of employees to claim in insolvent estates via the RPS etc.
- Evidence an ability to lead and manage more complex cases
- Draft high-quality reports, statutory documents in line with insolvency legislation, and correspondence
- Ensure compliance with statutory deadlines and regulatory requirements
- Supervise and mentor junior team members, reviewing work and providing feedback
- Be able to work in a team, delegating both upwards and downwards depending on the task
- Be able to discharge VAT and Corporation Tax filing requirements
- Ability to understand, explain and produce cash flow forecasts, statement of affairs, estimated outcome statements
- Be able to train others as well as showing a good understanding of technical matters
- Liaise with stakeholders including directors, creditors, legal advisors, and regulatory bodies
- Oversee asset realisation strategies and ensure recoveries are maximised
- Monitor fee drawdowns and ensure alignment with creditor resolutions
- Experience approving payment requests and journals via TPS
- Contribute to internal training, process improvement, and technical updates
- Support business development initiatives and client relationship management
Qualifications
- CPI or other relevant insolvency professional qualifications required
- Relevant experience in corporate restructuring preferred
- Proven experience managing insolvency cases from cradle to grave
- Strong technical knowledge of UK insolvency legislation and procedures
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and insolvency case management systems (e.g. IPS)
- Ability to lead teams, manage competing priorities, and deliver under pressure
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality
- ACA/ACCA or JIEB qualification is advantageous
