- Lead recruitment and selection for solicitors, trainees, and business services staff, managing the full hiring process from attraction to onboarding.
- Manage the annual trainee recruitment programme, including selection day and liaison with the Law Society of Scotland.
- Oversee the firm’s appraisal process, identifying training needs and developing learning and development initiatives.
- Act as an impartial and trusted advisor to staff, maintaining confidentiality and promoting positive employee relations.
- Ensure compliance with employment legislation and professional regulatory requirements.
- Manage HR budgets and contribute to annual salary review processes in partnership with the Finance Director.
- Maintain and update HR systems and policies.
- Support the induction and integration of new Partners, including Law Society notifications, Guarantee Fund processes, and LLP documentation.
- Collaborate with the Marketing team on firmwide engagement initiatives and events.
About You
We are looking for a confident HR professional who brings:
- Proven experience in a generalist or business partner HR role, ideally within a professional services or partnership environment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence at Partner level.
- Expertise across recruitment, employee relations, learning and development, and organisational change.
- A pragmatic, solutions-focused approach with high attention to detail and confidentiality.
- CIPD qualification (or equivalent experience) preferred.
This is an opportunity to play a key role in shaping the future of one of Scotland’s most respected independent law firms. You’ll work closely with our Partners, enjoy variety across strategic and hands-on work, and have real scope to make an impact.
