Frontline Recruitment Derby Limited is recruiting for extrusion operators for their client based on the outskirts of Derby. Due to the location, you will ideally have your own transport or live in the Ambergate area of Derby. The Extrusion Operator is responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining extrusion machinery to produce plastic film products that meet quality, safety, and production standards. The role ensures efficient production while maintaining compliance with company policies, safety procedures, and customer specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Machine Operation
- Set up, start, and operate extrusion lines in accordance with production schedules.
- Monitor machine parameters such as temperature, pressure, and speed.
- Adjust settings to maintain product quality and minimise waste.
- Conduct routine checks during production runs.
- Quality Control
- Inspect film output for defects including gauge variation, contamination, or surface imperfections.
- Record quality measurements and complete production documentation.
- Ensure finished products meet customer and company specifications.
- Safety & Compliance
- Follow all health, safety, and environmental procedures.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment (5S standards).
- Report hazards, near misses, and incidents in accordance with company policy.
- Maintenance & Troubleshooting
- Identify and troubleshoot minor machine faults.
- Assist maintenance teams with equipment servicing and repairs.
- Perform routine cleaning and preventative maintenance on extrusion equipment.
- Production Efficiency
- Work to meet daily production targets and minimise downtime.
- Reduce material waste and improve efficiency where possible.
- Communicate production issues promptly to supervisors.
- Teamwork & Communication
- Work collaboratively with other operators, quality teams, and supervisors.
- Support shift handovers with clear communication of machine status and production performance.
Skills & Competencies
- Good mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability

Shifts: Continental shifts x 12 hours 6-6, days and nights following a shift pattern 4 on 4 off.
Rate: Starting Salary £14.22 ph + Enhanced overtime. Salary increases with skills (pay award pending).
