This role is the programme's data-driven applications engineer - sitting between Oracle APEX development, analytics engineering, and data science enablement. It focuses on delivering reporting, dashboards, lightweight applications, and analytical PoCs on top of the client's Oracle cloud estate (ADW, OAC, Fusion, OIC).
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, enhance and maintain secure APEX applications for analytics, reporting and workflow enablement within the Defence programme.
- Build OAC dashboards, data visualisations, semantic models and automated reporting pipelines.
- Support data science explorations (feature sets, model inputs, structured data prep) and collaborate with AI engineers delivering PoCs.
- Work across ADW, Fusion data sources and integration layers (OIC) to curate clean, well-modelled datasets.
- Contribute to data migration activities, ensuring accuracy, integrity and auditability throughout transitions from legacy systems.
- Apply security-by-design, access controls and logging appropriate for regulated MOD environments.
- Operate in Agile delivery squads with APEX devs, data engineers, integration specialists and business SMEs.
Essential Skills
- Strong Oracle APEX development capability (apps, forms, processes, security, performance tuning).
- Hands-on experience with Oracle Analytics Cloud (OAC dashboards, DV, RPD/semantic modelling).
- Experience with Autonomous Data Warehouse (ADW) and Oracle Fusion data structures.
- Data modelling, ETL/ELT, SQL tuning and general analytics engineering skillset.
- Proven ability to collaborate with AI teams, data scientists or ML engineers in shared workloads.
- UK Citizen with SC (minimum).
Desirable
- OCI and OIC experience.
- Exposure to ML/AI concepts and ability to support data preparation for AI workloads.
- Defence/central-gov experience.
