We are seeking a skilled and highly motivated Modelling and Simulation Engineer to join our client working on a cutting-edge defence project. In this role, you will be responsible for the development, implementation, and management of advanced simulation systems used in the defence domain. You will also contribute to software development, requirements management, and collaborating with the wider team to deliver high-quality simulation capabilities for both defence operations. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in simulation systems, software engineering principles, virtualisation, and data pipelines, with experience working in defence modelling and simulation.

You will be working with a team of engineers and stakeholders, helping to implement solutions that meet user requirements, with an emphasis on rapid concept prototyping and the effective deployment of simulation systems. Security Clearance is required for this role.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement best practices and guidance for the integration of simulation systems within the defence project.
  • Manage the development, testing, and maintenance of simulation components, ensuring they align with project goals and requirements.
  • Ensure that simulation systems meet all specified requirements, while adhering to industry best practices for software engineering.
  • Develop and maintain simulation data pipelines, ensuring seamless integration and data flow across systems.
  • Work with stakeholders to understand user requirements and translate these into actionable development tasks.
  • Contribute to the rapid concepting and prototyping of simulation systems, ensuring they can be quickly iterated and tested in real-world scenarios.
  • Conduct simulation testing and troubleshooting, identifying issues and providing solutions to ensure system reliability and performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software engineers, designers, and domain experts, to ensure smooth integration of all components.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in the design, development, and implementation of simulation systems, preferably within the defence or aerospace sectors.
  • Current SC Clearance or the ability to obtain (UK National passport holder).
  • Strong knowledge of simulation capabilities, software engineering principles, and data pipeline management.
  • Expertise in the virtualisation of simulation systems and ensuring their scalability and performance.
  • Proficient in C++ programming and scripting languages such as Lua.
  • Hands-on experience with simulation software such as VR-Forces and similar platforms.
  • Deep understanding of defence modelling and simulation.
  • Knowledge in both Air and Maritime domains is advantageous.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in Defence Modelling and Simulation projects, particularly for air or maritime defence applications.
  • Advanced degree (MSc, PhD) in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Experience with additional simulation systems or platforms (e.g., MATLAB, Simulink, OpenSim).
  • Familiarity with agile development methodologies.
