My client is looking for a driven and experienced Maritime Operations Manager to lead the development, growth, and success of our Maritime team and capability area. This is a pivotal role for a motivated individual who thrives on building highâperforming teams, delivering complex projects, and driving business growth within the maritime sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the Maritime team, ensuring a positive and communicative working environment.
- Develop and maintain key associate and customer relationships.
- Identify and address recruitment, training, development, and succession needs.
- Ensure delivery of maritime projects to agreed time, cost, and quality standards.
- Monitor and manage team capacity, utilisation, and project performance.
- Provide technical assurance and support for customer deliverables.
- Promote and support effective implementation of the Quality Management System.
- Review and recommend on new maritime requirements and opportunities.
- Act as technical author for bids and support business development activities.
- Represent in industry networks, promoting the company's reputation.
- Identify and communicate industry trends, risks, and opportunities to senior leadership.
- Provide strategic insight for company growth, focusing on maritime capability.
- Support other business areas as required.
- Deliver feeâearning project work as needed.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Proven experience in maritime operations management or a related field.
- Ability to hold security clearance.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Experience in project delivery within the maritime or defence sector.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
- Technical competence in maritime operations and assurance.
- Experience with quality management systems and continuous improvement.
- Ability to identify and respond to industry trends and business opportunities.
- Competent with the full suite of MS Office 365 applications.
Desirable Skills and Experience
- Incorporated or Chartered Engineer membership in a relevant professional body.
- Experience in business development and bid writing.
- Knowledge of Defence and MOD safety and standards such as Defence Safety Authority (DSA) regulations, DEFSTAN 00-056, JSP 430 and the Project Oriented Safety Management System (POSMS).
- Strong network within the maritime and defence industry.
