This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Engineering Manager to join an Advanced Products Engineering team, supporting the delivery of complex, high-profile Control Actuator Systems programmes. The product test development group is expanding, and you will play a key role in leading and developing a growing engineering team. They have opportunities for both contractors and permanent staff to join the team.
What will set you apart in this role is proven experience and strong understanding of product development lifecycles in a high technology engineering sector. Excellent rates and salaries available. Due to the nature of work and projects, you will be required to undergo UK SC Security Clearance (existing SC desirable but not essential). To be eligible for security clearance, you will need to be a UK resident for a minimum of 5 years.
What you’ll do:
- Lead a small, multi-located hybrid engineering team through design, development, and delivery of test system projects
- Develop and manage engineering plans aligned to programme milestones, company standards, and gating processes
- Oversee work packages, reporting, and key performance indicators within an Integrated Programme Team (IPT)
- Act as a key point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, including occasional travel to US customer sites
- Work closely with Test Development Leads and Design Authority to ensure technical integrity, managing risk and change across deliverables
- Drive programme performance through schedule, budget, and earned value management
- Support team growth, with potential future line management responsibilities
What you’ll bring:
- Strong experience in engineering programme or project management within multi-disciplinary teams
- Proven experience and understanding of product development lifecycles and lifecycle management
- Experience with budgeting and Earned Value Management techniques
- Proven ability to manage work packages and reporting tools (e.g. MS Project)
- Strong leadership, stakeholder management, and strategic thinking skills
- Engineering background (BSc/BEng or equivalent)
Desirable:
- Defence or regulated industry experience (UK/US exposure advantageous)
- Experience with Automated Test Equipment (ATE), test development, and instrumentation
- Knowledge of NI LabVIEW / TestStand
