We’re looking for a Senior Azure Platform Engineer to help design, build and operate secure cloud platforms for complex, high‑assurance environments. You’ll be working across Azure infrastructure, Kubernetes, automation, networking and DevOps tooling, helping to deliver reliable, scalable and secure platforms that support critical digital services. This is a hands‑on engineering role, but one that also requires technical ownership, strong judgement and the ability to work closely with architects, delivery teams, developers and operational stakeholders. You’ll be joining a collaborative technical team focused on building platforms properly – secure by design, automated where possible, supportable in live service and capable of scaling as requirements evolve.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, administer and maintain Azure infrastructure across services including Azure Kubernetes Service, Virtual Machines, Application Gateways, databases, storage and networking.
- Architect and manage hybrid and multi‑cloud connectivity, including site‑to‑site VPNs, BGP routing, Azure Virtual WAN and hub‑and‑spoke network configurations.
- Apply cloud security best practice across Azure environments, including Azure Key Vault, Microsoft Defender for Cloud, Azure RBAC, network segmentation, NSGs and Private Endpoints.
- Configure, maintain and optimise Kubernetes environments to support secure, scalable and resilient application deployments.
- Design and build CI/CD pipelines to improve deployment quality, speed and consistency.
- Support both cloud and on‑premise platforms, using automation and Infrastructure as Code to improve reliability, repeatability and maintainability.
- Implement monitoring, alerting and observability solutions to track platform health, performance and availability.
- Manage source control, repositories and versioning practices to support effective collaboration and code governance.
- Drive automation across platform operations, reducing manual intervention and improving service reliability.
- Provide technical guidance to development and engineering teams on how to use platform services effectively.
- Support improvements around platform security, scalability, maintainability, supportability and performance.
- Keep up to date with emerging cloud, platform and DevOps technologies, helping to continuously improve engineering practices.
What We’re Looking For
- 5+ years’ experience in Platform Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering, DevOps, Platform Integration or a closely related role.
- Strong hands‑on Azure experience, ideally supported by Azure Administrator Associate (AZ‑104) and Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ‑305) certifications.
- Deep knowledge of Azure networking, including Virtual WAN, ExpressRoute, VPN Gateways, BGP routing, NSGs and Private Endpoints.
- Strong Kubernetes experience, including configuration, container orchestration and supporting production‑grade deployments.
- Experience with Terraform and HashiCorp tooling such as Packer and Vault.
- Strong CI/CD pipeline experience using tools such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD or similar.
- Good understanding of Git, repository management and modern software delivery workflows.
- Experience driving automation initiatives that improve operational efficiency, consistency and reliability.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across engineering, architecture, delivery and operational teams.
- Good problem‑solving ability and the confidence to operate in fast‑paced, technically complex environments.
- Experience with JFrog tooling, such as Artifactory, XRay or Runtime, and/or Coder would be advantageous.
- Experience with other cloud platforms such as AWS or Google Cloud would also be beneficial.
- A degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline would be useful, although equivalent practical experience is just as valuable.
