The Role Were looking for a Senior Azure Platform Engineer to help design, build and operate secure cloud platforms for complex, high-assurance environments.
Youll be working across Azure infrastructure, Kubernetes, automation, networking and Dev Ops tooling, helping to deliver reliable, scalable and secure platforms that support critical digital services.
This is a hands-on engineering role, but one that also requires technical ownership, strong judgement and the ability to work closely with architects, delivery teams, developers and operational stakeholders.
Youll be joining a collaborative technical team focused on building platforms properly - secure by design, automated where possible, supportable in live service and capable of scaling as requirements evolve.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will
- Design, build, administer and maintain Azure infrastructure across services including Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), Virtual Machines, Application Gateways, databases, storage and networking.
- Architect and manage hybrid and multi-cloud connectivity, including site-to-site VPNs, BGP routing, Azure Virtual WAN and hub-and-spoke network configurations.
- Apply cloud security best practice across Azure environments, including Azure Key Vault, Microsoft Defender for Cloud, Azure RBAC, network segmentation, NSGs and Private Endpoints.
- Configure, maintain and optimise Kubernetes environments to support secure, scalable and resilient application deployments.
- Design and build CI/CD pipelines to improve deployment quality, speed and consistency.
- Support both cloud and on-premise platforms, using automation and Infrastructure as Code (Ia C) to improve reliability, repeatability and maintainability.
- Implement monitoring, alerting and observability solutions to track platform health, performance and availability.
- Manage source control, repositories and versioning practices to support effective collaboration and code governance.
- Drive automation across platform operations, reducing manual intervention and improving service reliability.
- Provide technical guidance to development and engineering teams on how to use platform services effectively.
- Support improvements around platform security, scalability, maintainability, supportability and performance.
- Keep up to date with emerging cloud, platform and Dev Ops technologies, helping to continuously improve engineering practices.
- What Were Looking For
Were looking for someone with strong Azure Platform Engineering experience, a security-conscious mindset and the ability to take ownership in complex technical environments.
- You dont need to tick every box, but wed be particularly interested in experience across:
- 5+ yearsxperience in Platform Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), Dev Ops, Platform Integration or a closely related role.
- Strong hands-on Azure experience, ideally supported by Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104) and Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305) certifications.
- Deep knowledge of Azure networking, including Virtual WAN, Express Route, VPN Gateways, BGP routing, NSGs and Private Endpoints.
- Strong Kubernetes experience, including configuration, container orchestration and supporting production-grade deployments.
- Experience with Terraform and Hashi Corp tooling such as Packer and Vault.
- Strong CI/CD pipeline experience using tools such as Git Hub Actions, Git Lab CI/CD or similar.
- Good understanding of Git, repository management and modern software delivery workflows.
- Experience driving automation initiatives that improve operational efficiency, consistency and reliability.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across engineering, architecture, delivery and operational teams.
- Good problem-solving ability and the confidence to operate in fast-paced, technically complex environments.
- Experience with JFrog tooling, such as Artifactory, Xray or Runtime, and/or Coder would be advantageous.
- Experience with other cloud platforms such as AWS or Google Cloud would also be beneficial.
- A degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline would be useful, although equivalent practical experience is equally valued.
