We're supporting a leading UK defence technology organisation in the search for a Finance Assistant to join their growing finance team in Bristol. This is an excellent opportunity for an organised and detail focused finance professional to develop their career within a highly regulated, fast-paced defence environment, supporting a busy Accounts Payable function and working closely with internal stakeholders across the business.
The Role
Reporting to the Financial Controller, you'll play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of the Accounts Payable function, maintaining strong supplier relationships and ensuring accurate, timely processing of financial transactions. Key responsibilities include:
- Processing supplier invoices, credit notes and staff expenses
- Matching invoices against purchase orders and resolving discrepancies
- Managing supplier queries and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships
- Performing supplier statement reconciliations
- Supporting supplier onboarding and master data maintenance
- Assisting with weekly payment runs
- Ensuring compliance with company policies, VAT requirements and audit controls
- Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives across the finance function
About You
We're keen to speak with candidates who have:
- Previous experience within an Accounts Payable or Finance Assistant role
- Experience working in a multi currency environment
- Strong purchase order matching and reconciliation experience
- Advanced Excel skills (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, etc.)
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
- Strong communication skills with the ability to build relationships across the business
- Eligibility to obtain UK Security Clearance (SC)
