Senior Field Engineer in Bristol

My growing defence client is seeking a Senior Field/ Network Engineer. Our client is a cutting-edge analytics/ defence technology company based in the Southwest. They have an office in Central Bristol and Wiltshire, they embrace hybrid working, but you will be required to travel depending on contract and customer demands. You will be part of the product delivery team working with soldiers to capture training data that provides insights on their individual and collective shooting performance.

We are looking for someone who enjoys to travel, has a practical and methodical approach and is excited to work with new technology. To be successful in this role, broad experience is beneficial with strong technical skills and interests, you will also need excellent communication and collaboration skills to be able to work with colleagues, both in delivery and with the development team.

You should have the following:

• Excellent IT skills and an appetite to understand and utilise new and advancing technology.
• Very Strong Network Support knowledge and experience of deploying IP based networks using DHCP and fixed IPs.
• Knowledge of being able to remote into devices locally and over networks.
• Ability to diagnose and solve networking issues.
• Ability to configure, deploy and manage deployable networks (e.g. unifi).
• Ability to configure VPNs and add clients to a system.
• MDM management software.
• The ability to work in austere environments with minimal support and equipment to meet a customer need.
• An approach to work that is thorough, has attention to detail and is proactive.
• Excellent communication skills to deliver effective training to the customer and end user.
• Appropriate security clearances, or ability to obtain them.
• UK Driving Licence.

Whilst not necessary to apply, we would love you to also have:

• Experience of working internationally.
• Experience of hardware configuration and assembly.
• Qualifications in training delivery.
• Knowledge of Python, JSON and SQL or similar.
• Experience of working in or with the defence sector.
• Preparedness to work extended or antisocial hours when required by the customer.
