The Opportunity
We are looking for an IT Asset Coordinator to join a growing team supporting a secure, high-profile technology environment in Farnborough. This is an urgent requirement created by a gap within the current team. You will take ownership of a defined project and play a key role in establishing control, visibility and governance across a broad range of IT assets. Initially, the role will involve a significant amount of investigative work to understand the existing asset estate, validate records and identify discrepancies. From there, you will take responsibility for the ongoing control, auditing and management of assets throughout their lifecycle. The position would suit someone with experience in IT asset management, inventory control, configuration management or technical logistics who is looking to develop further into forecasting, technology road mapping and project management.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and manage the full lifecycle of IT assets, from procurement and deployment through to return, disposal and decommissioning.
- Maintain accurate asset records within the relevant asset management systems and configuration databases.
- Track a broad range of IT equipment, including laptops, peripherals, routers, switches, servers and firewalls.
- Gather, validate and maintain key asset information, including location, ownership, quantity, serial numbers, configuration details and audit status.
- Investigate discrepancies between physical assets, system records and project documentation.
- Conduct regular physical and system-based asset audits, reporting on exceptions, risks and areas requiring remediation.
- Manage the IT asset inventory, ensuring information remains accurate, consistent and complete.
- Take responsibility for goods-in, equipment storage, asset allocation, returns and secure disposal.
- Support the development and improvement of asset and configuration management processes.
- Review existing configuration management databases and help establish a consistent approach across projects.
- Ensure asset management policies, processes and operating procedures remain current and fit for purpose.
- Work with project, technical and service teams to ensure assets are recorded, controlled and managed correctly.
- Provide guidance to colleagues on asset management processes and promote consistent ways of working.
- Support bid and delivery teams where asset and configuration management requirements form part of a customer proposal.
- Contribute to forecasting, capacity planning, technology road maps and wider project management activities as the role develops.
Skills and Experience
- Previous experience in IT asset management, inventory management, configuration management, technical logistics or a similar role.
- Strong attention to detail, with the ability to identify, investigate and resolve discrepancies.
- Experience maintaining accurate records across asset management systems, databases or spreadsheets.
- An understanding of the IT asset lifecycle, including procurement, deployment, auditing, storage and disposal.
- Confidence working with both technical teams and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to take ownership of a defined project or workstream.
- Comfortable working in a structured, process-driven and security-conscious environment.
Desirable Experience
- Experience using Microsoft Intune, Microsoft Azure or Jira Assets.
- Knowledge of Configuration Management Databases, asset registers or IT service management tools.
- Exposure to ITIL, Service Asset and Configuration Management or related service management disciplines.
- Previous experience within defence, government, national security or another regulated environment.
- Experience supporting infrastructure assets such as networking equipment, servers and firewalls.
- An interest in developing skills across forecasting, road mapping and project management.
Security Requirements
Due to the nature of the environment, applicants must be sole UK nationals and eligible to obtain both Security Check and Developed Vetting clearance. The role is based on-site in Farnborough on a full-time basis.
