Frontier Economics is an economics consultancy that tackles the big questions facing governments, businesses and society. We help our clients to analyse and understand their markets and to formulate strategies based on sound economics. The Technology Team at Frontier are responsible for enabling revenue generation, improving excellence, driving innovation, and reducing risk across all of our UK and European offices. The team is made up of three distinct functions that focus on building partnerships in the areas of experience, cyber security and business technology.
The Technology Business Analyst is responsible for driving business and technology improvements through detailed business analysis, ensuring the delivery of value-driven business solutions. This role plays a key part in bridging the gap between business needs and technological solutions through structuring and managing data-driven insights, workflow analysis, and process optimisation that supports collaborative and successful outcomes. Working closely with the Business Partnership Manager, the Technology Business Analyst will deliver on collaboratively agreed objectives that benefit our people, clients, and overall business efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct structured business analysis to identify inefficiencies and/or opportunities for improving technology and business processes.
- Conduct interviews and workshops to gather information from users and management.
- Translate business needs into clear, actionable requirements.
- Support AI-enabled decision support and optimisation use cases.
- Support Workday and Microsoft Dynamics configuration and optimisation.
Stakeholder Engagement & Documentation
- Communicate key insights and recommendations to stakeholders, ensuring clarity and alignment across teams.
- Develop and maintain detailed documentation of business processes, policies, and procedures, including process maps, flowcharts, and diagrams to visualise current and future states.
- Write user stories and use cases that describe how people will interact with systems.
- Prepare presentations and reports for different audiences, from executives to technical teams.
- Conduct interviews and workshops with stakeholders to understand their goals, challenges, and requirements.
Solutions & Continuous Improvement
- Support testing efforts to ensure solutions work as intended.
- Monitor the effectiveness of implemented solutions.
- Gather feedback from key stakeholders about system performance and usability.
Essential Requirements
- Capacity to break down complex problems, analyse data effectively, and develop logical, well-reasoned solutions.
- Skill in eliciting, documenting, and validating business requirements through interviews, workshops, and observation.
- Ability to build relationships and manage expectations across diverse stakeholder groups.
- Capability to map current and future state processes, identify inefficiencies, and recommend improvements.
- Sufficient knowledge of relevant systems, technologies, and data concepts to bridge business needs with technical solutions.
- Experience with AI, automation, and data analysis.
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Proficiency in French, German, or Spanish.
- Experience with automation tools to enhance process efficiencies.
- Knowledge of Agile, Scrum, or Lean methodologies for business and technology improvements.
- Certification in Business Analysis (CBAP, CCBA, or equivalent).
- Experience working with cloud-based analytics platforms.
- Experience with Workday, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar solutions.
