This role is offered on a full in-studio basis or a hybrid basis (minimum 3 days per week in the studio). WHAT’S THE ROLE?
We’re looking for an Experienced Audio Designer to join our Game Audio team. In this role, you’ll get the opportunity to use your experience to take ownership for the planning and delivery of complex and critical audio for our games, working across disciplines to deliver feature work. As an experienced team member, you’ll mentor more junior team members and collaborate across disciplines, contributing to both the creative and technical direction of game audio.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
- Delivering and implementing complex game audio assets independently and in line with the game direction
- Holding the vision of an audio project pillar and aiding the Lead in managing the work on time
- Helping Leads and Audio Producers identify features and break these down into tasks
- Owning all communication necessary to deliver feature areas, facilitating and managing cross‑discipline collaboration to achieve alignment and manage bottlenecks
- Collaborating with developers across the project and within the audio team to design and implement immersive and informative audio features, consistently considering user experience
- Working in the game and using debug, test‑worlds and development tools to check implementations
- Mentoring, supervising, and guiding less experienced team members
- Managing smaller teams as a feature owner or on smaller‑scale projects when required.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
- Extensive experience in game audio or sound design from a relevant adjacent field
- Experience of shipping several projects with extensive cross‑discipline (animation, UI etc.) involvement
- Strong understanding of interactive audio systems and game audio implementation.
- An expert level of ability and familiarity with DAWs (we use Reaper) and the integrated use of plug‑ins
- Ability to hold and communicate a creative vision
- Ability to inspire others by example and the desire to raise the audio quality bar and the user experience.
BONUS IF YOU HAVE
- An interest in video games (especially Frontier games) and the industry
- Worked with game audio middleware, we specifically work with Wwise
- Experience in mentoring less experienced sound designers
- Previous people management experience and a desire to step into a Lead role in the future.
