Job Outline
To operate CNC machines, producing high quality parts, working to tight tolerances.
Key Responsibilities
- Setting and operating CNC machines in a fully functioning Machine Shop.
- Setting up relevant machinery to ensure efficient production of precision components within correct dimensions that is suitable for further processing.
- Having the ability to read and interpret complex design drawings.
- Ensuring health and safety is adhered to and maintained within the workshop.
- Looking at how the machine shop can improve ways of working to reach greater productivity.
- Ensuring that the required quality and operating standards are satisfied throughout each stage of manufacture to achieve optimum quality.
- Instructing other employees in the operation of machinery and processes and assisting other personnel in the department.
- Ensuring that the equipment and work area is cleaned and maintained in accordance with the operator's maintenance schedule and the required departmental standards.
- Supporting the business needs by operating across the whole department as required and to fully participate in ongoing process/business improvement programmes.
- Planning if necessary, and to produce one off type components and special project work which is outside the average production level of work.
- Personal Specification
It is essential that all candidates have the following
- Mechanical Engineering Technical Certification
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent Mechanical Engineering Qualification or demonstrated experience
- Experience of NC Machining – setting and running
- Understanding of health and safety in the workshop
- Candidate flexibility may be required
