FromTheSpot is looking for volunteer writers to contribute to LaLiga coverage.

At FromTheSpot, we provide intelligent football journalism that explains why events happen, what they mean, and what happens next. We are not a breaking news outlet, a tabloid, or a fan channel. Our focus is analytical, impartial football coverage that is accessible to serious fans.

Powered by a brilliant collective of students and early-career journalists, FromTheSpot is entering an exciting new chapter under a newly appointed Senior Editorial Team, with a clear vision to deliver insightful and high-quality football analysis. Our contributors have reported from the press box at six UEFA club competition finals and two major international tournaments, gaining invaluable experience alongside some of the best journalists in the industry.

We are looking for volunteer writers to contribute to our LaLiga coverage as part of a structured virtual editorial desk. You’ll have the opportunity to focus on the clubs, tactical trends and stories that define Spanish football, producing content that goes beyond surface-level reporting. This could include match analysis and tactical breakdowns, team or player-focused features and analytical opinion pieces from across the league. We prioritise insight over speed, clarity over complexity, and credibility over opinionated noise.

If your application to join FromTheSpot as a LaLiga writer is accepted, you’ll write original articles tailored to your interests within LaLiga and develop well-structured, analytical content in line with our editorial style. You’ll be able to contribute flexibly, with no pressure to produce a certain number of articles per week. If you contribute regularly, you may be able to benefit from opportunities to progress into editorial roles at FromTheSpot.

If you’re interested in joining FromTheSpot as a LaLiga writer, we ask that you have a genuine passion for Spanish football, possess strong written communication skills and have an interest in a career in sports journalism. A solid understanding of Spanish and/or Catalan is advantageous, but certainly not required. This is a voluntary, unpaid role.

If you’re interested, apply via LinkedIn or email your CV and examples of work.
