Our flagship event, Christmas at Bute Park in Cardiff, now going into its fifth year, is the largest light trail outside London, and since 2023 we have expanded to new cities under our Northern Lights brand including Newcastle, Leeds and Manchester. Our award-winning light trails have been recommended by The Times, The Guardian, Time Out, RadioTimes and many more, and this year will hit the milestone of 1 million visitors.
Job Summary
We are looking for up to three Communications Assistants to join our team and help share these incredible experiences with audiences nationwide.
You will be joining our Communications Team who will be looking after our customer communications for our four light trails across the country – Christmas at Bute Park, Northern Lights Newcastle, Leeds and Manchester. With over 400,000 customers expected to visit, we are looking for diligent, caring communicators who will be able to help customers over email and social media.
You will be trained on all aspects of the events, including site visits, understanding the production, operation and marketing of the event to allow full breadth of knowledge of the event.
Role overview
- For the first six weeks, we are offering 32 hours a week, which will then reduce to 24 or 16 hours per week depending on Christmas and whether the office is open.
- Communication Assistants will be expected to be available at weekends, as the event runs across both Saturday and Sunday.
- The pay rate is £12.21 per hour.
- Exact work time slots are yet to be confirmed but are likely to be either 9am–5pm or 12pm–8pm, starting around November 10th and finishing around January 10th (approximately two months in total).
- For training and the first few weeks, we would like you to work in the office to allow for ease of learning, although there will also be the opportunity for remote/home working. Our offices are in the Northern Quarter of Manchester.
- We also have a third role available with fewer hours, primarily on an on-call basis should anyone be unable to work. This role would be 32–24 hours per week for the first few weeks (for training), then reducing to 16–8 hours per week depending on the week.
