We are seeking a reliable and experienced Fire Alarm Service Engineer to join our growing team.

You will be responsible for the routine maintenance, fault-finding, and minor repairs of fire detection and life safety systems following relevant British Standards and company procedures.

This role is field-based and requires excellent technical skills, a professional attitude, and a strong focus on customer service.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) of fire alarm systems to BS 5839-1 standards.
  • Diagnose and repair system faults and provide detailed fault reports.
  • Complete small works, such as device replacements, panel swaps, or wiring corrections.
  • Maintain accurate records of all work completed and report any non-compliances.
  • Respond to emergency call-outs as part of the on-call rota (as required).
  • Work across a variety of environments, including commercial, residential, industrial, and public sector buildings.
  • Advise clients on system condition, upgrade options, or required remedial works.
  • Ensure full compliance with health and safety regulations and company policies at all times.
  • Proven experience servicing fire alarm systems (minimum 3 years preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of conventional and addressable systems (e.g., Ampac, Gent, Advanced, Morley, Notifier, Kentec).
  • Working knowledge of BS 5839, BS 5266, and general fire industry standards.
  • Good communication and customer service skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Willingness to participate in an on-call rota (as required).
  • Full UK driving licence.

    Desirable qualifications

  • FIA Units 1–5 (Design, Installation, Maintenance, Commissioning, Advanced Detection)
  • CSCS/ECS Card
  • Electrical qualifications (e.g., City & Guilds 2365/2391 or NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installations)
  • Experience in emergency lighting, extinguishers, or integrated life safety systems is a plus
  • Knowledge of security or access control systems (desirable but not essential)
