The predicted salary is between 20000 - 25000 £ per year.
Under the reasonable direction of the SEND Hub Teacher, support access to learning and the inclusion of pupils with a range of special educational needs within the SEND Hub.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
- Support the SEND Hub Teacher and contribute to the learning, provision, wellbeing and outcomes of the pupils within the SEND Hub, promoting a supportive and inclusive culture across the school.
- Promote the SEND Hub as an integral part of the school/academy, including the curriculum offer and expertise that supports its pupils with additional needs.
- Support pupils, individually or in groups, so they can access the curriculum, take part in learning and make progress towards their learning objectives.
- Promote pupils' independence, self-esteem and social inclusion.
- Demonstrate an informed and efficient approach to teaching and learning by adopting relevant strategies to support the work of the teacher and increase achievement of all pupils.
- Facilitate inclusion by encouraging participation of all pupils in learning and extracurricular activities.
- Support the SEND Hub curriculum aimed at pupils achieving their full potential in all areas of learning.
- Use effective behaviour management strategies consistently in line with the school’s policy and procedures.
- Support the SEND Hub teacher with maintaining good order and discipline among students, managing behaviour effectively to ensure a safe learning environment.
- Organise and manage the SEND Hub teaching space, breakout spaces, and resources to maintain a stimulating and safe learning environment.
- Contribute to effective assessment and planning by supporting the monitoring, recording and reporting of pupil performance and progress.
- Communicate effectively with other staff members and with parents and carers under the direction of the SEND Hub teacher.
Additional Responsibilities
- Communicate knowledge and understanding of pupils to other school staff and education, health and social care professionals for informed decision making on intervention and provision.
- Contribute to meetings with parents/carers by providing feedback on pupil progress, attainment and barriers to learning, as directed by the SEND Hub teacher.
- Keep other professionals accurately informed of performance and progress, or concerns about the pupils.
- Work collaboratively with the SEND Hub teacher, classroom teachers, support staff and other colleagues, including external staff.
- Assist the SEND Hub teacher in the development of a whole-school inclusive ethos and support strategies.
- Promote the safety and wellbeing of pupils, following the school’s policies related to SEND and Inclusion.
- Follow the school’s Health and Safety rules and procedures and report all concerns to the appropriate person.
- Provide support regarding the personal care, health and medical needs of students.
- Maintain knowledge and understanding relevant and up-to-date by reflecting on own practice and identifying professional development opportunities.
- Contribute to the accurate use of up-to-date recording systems related to attendance, safeguarding, behaviour, progress and learning.
- Demonstrate a critical understanding of legislation, strategies, processes and developments within SEND.
- Present a positive personal image, contributing to a welcoming school environment which supports equal opportunities for all.
- Perform any duties reasonably assigned by your Line Manager or Headteacher.
