About the Role: We are looking for an energetic Economics Tutor to join a high‑achieving department. The ideal candidate will deliver inspiring lessons, bring knowledge and experience to the curriculum, and remain committed to teaching beyond the specification, believing every student can succeed.
Department: Economics is a large and successful department with a diverse, enthusiastic, and supportive team. Collaboration is encouraged and teaching materials are shared centrally. The syllabus is well structured and fully resourced, aiming to develop independent learning, transferable skills, and adaptability with regard to learning and assessment.
Number of Staff: 7
Management Structure: Senior curriculum manager for the A Level course and a Subject Leader who manages resources and assessment for Year 2.
Exam Board Specification: AQA
Department Facilities: Access to Chromebooks for three classes. All teaching materials are provided centrally.
Day-to-Day Expectations (Full-Time): A full-time teacher will have 22.5 contact hours per week, split over 5 teaching groups (15 periods) with 5 additional periods for preparation and marking. Staff attend departmental meetings and all staff CPD after college, finishing at 5:20 pm. Attendance at college events (open evenings, parent evenings, interview day, enrolment briefings) is required. Resources are shared, and opportunities for professional development, extracurricular clubs, and wellbeing/social activities are regular.
