Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 TB Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our TB service based at Frimley Park Hospital. This is a full-time, permanent position within a supportive and experienced multidisciplinary team delivering high-quality, patient-centred care.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Care for patients with suspected or diagnosed TB, supported by the TB team
  • Take responsibility for managing TB contact screening and migrant screening for adults and children (Mantoux, QuantiFeron blood test, chest X-ray) and BCG vaccination
  • Monitor active and latent TB treatment for adults and children
  • Make differential diagnoses within level of competence, with support from the TB team
  • Plan and provide treatment in collaboration with others as appropriate, including monitoring of treatment and Directly Observed Therapy regimens
  • Work independently, but also as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Use clinical judgement to decide whether to refer patients for investigations (e.g., chest X-ray)
  • Travel between sites and conduct home visits as required

Qualifications and experience

  • Essential: NMC Registration
  • Essential: Knowledge of Public Health Nursing
  • Desirable: TB Nursing experience
  • Experience: Respiratory/TB/chest medicine experience; some post-qualification experience

Skills and attributes

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to handle complex issues and work autonomously
  • IT literate; strong teamwork skills
  • Knowledge of Child Protection issues
  • Full UK driving licence with access to a car
