Frimley Health Foundation Trust – Specialist Paediatric Dietitian
Frimley Health Foundation Trust is seeking an enthusiastic, dynamic, and proactive Specialist Paediatric Dietitian to join our team. This role involves working closely with a specialist multidisciplinary team (MDT) to establish a new nationally funded obesity CEW (Complications from Extreme Weight) service for paediatrics.
This is an exciting opportunity to innovate in service development and provide holistic, comprehensive care to the local population. The successful candidate will assess the health and wellbeing of children and young people referred to the service and offer tailored nutritional advice to support their health goals.
Key qualities include excellent communication skills, experience with behavioural and motivational techniques to facilitate change, and adaptability to meet individual needs. A passion for working with children and young people, along with a drive for innovation, is essential.
The position is funded for one year on a fixed-term basis, working two days a week across sites to initiate and establish the dietetic service. Attendance at specialist MDT clinics on Thursdays and travel for clinic attendance will be required.
Responsibilities
- Provide evidence-based, highly specialist dietetic assessments, management, and treatment within the CEW Service, aligned with national and local priorities within clinical governance frameworks.
- Work with children, young people, and their families in obesity-focused outpatient clinics.
- Utilize behavioural and motivational techniques to facilitate positive change and develop individualized, holistic care plans.
- Innovate in patient care and service delivery as part of a dynamic MDT, including developing new dietetic services and approaches to weight management.
- Establish patient care pathways and develop or adapt resources accordingly.
- Collaborate closely with the paediatric CEW MDT for care planning and decision-making.
- Document patient data and evaluate clinical outcomes.
- Gather and respond to patient and parent/carer feedback.
- Participate in audits, research, and projects within the specialty.
- Serve as a clinical expert to healthcare professionals, dietitians, and other stakeholders within the Frimley ICS.
- Contribute to regional and national meetings, audits, and research activities related to this specialized service.
- Liaise with the national CEW programme for governance, shared learning, and development.
