An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our busy and forward-thinking pharmacy team as a Pharmacy Dispensary Assistant.
This role is key to supporting the safe, efficient and effective operation of our dispensary, helping us deliver excellent care to our patients.
We are looking for someone who is organised, reliable, and able to work well under pressure.
You will act as a positive role model, supporting and supervising other dispensary assistants, contributing to the smooth running of the service, and demonstrating the highest standards of professionalism.
Main duties of the job
Working closely with the Lead Pharmacy Technician, you will:
- Supervise, support and train dispensary assistants in all aspects of the dispensary service
- Contribute to reviewing and updating procedures to enhance service quality.
- Assist in managing absence and performance issues within the team.
- Ensure accurate receipt, storage, labelling and dispensing of medication.
- Delegate appropriate tasks to maintain safe daily operations.

- Previous experience in labelling and dispensing medication.
- Confidence with IT systems and accurate data entry.
- Ability to manage a busy workload and work to tight deadlines.
- Strong organisational, communication and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications
- Educated to GCSE or equivalent, to include English and Mathematics
- NVQ 2
- Willing to undertake the Medicines Optimisation training (POD Assessment and Transcribing modules) if not already accredited.
Experience
- Previous experience of working on a reception in a busy environment
- Basic computer skills
- Experience of order, receipt and storage of goods
- Basic knowledge of pharmaceuticals
- Knowledge in over the counter sales
