Our client is an exciting high-growth company. It provides complex managed services to the UK Ministry of Defence built on highly innovative and advanced technologies. It is a trusted specialist supplier of a rapidly expanding range of services and related support, and as such has become a key partner to the UK military. It is a long-established and highly regarded company, enjoying notable success for its latest offerings in a dynamic market.

The business has ambitious plans for the development and introduction of a wide and diverse portfolio of AI-enabled and technologically sophisticated services that deliver battlespace advantage for the armed forces of the UK and its NATO allies. Thanks to its current rate of organic growth and with a recent and significant injection of investment, the company now needs to recruit an experienced director-level project management professional to join the management team and provide hands-on leadership and direction to the £multi-million contracts already secured, and those already in the increasingly strong pipeline for this highly successful and very profitable business as it expands at home and internationally.

Role:

  • Prioritise safety
  • Lead cross-functional project teams
  • Manage complex services and through-life support
  • Proactive partnership with customer / MoD IPTs
  • Deliver on contract requirements
  • Efficient and effective resource allocation
  • Decision support to senior management
  • Supply chain management
  • Ensure regulatory compliance
  • Adopt robust and rigorous processes
  • Monitor progress, budgets and KPIs
  • Instil a high performance and continuous improvement culture
  • Support bid and contract pricing and negotiation
  • Identify, report, manage and mitigate risks
  • Work closely with Nominated / Accountable Persons
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, co-workers and suppliers

Candidate:

  • Project / programme management qualification
  • Ideally a degree in a STEM subject
  • Senior project leadership role in defence technology / engineering
  • Experienced in managing service provision to MoD
  • Enforced formal project disciplines, systems and structure
  • Sets and maintains standards, holds others to account
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
  • Determined, energetic and collaborative
  • Highly numerate with commercial instincts
  • First-class planning and organisational skills, and close attention to detail
  • Team player, with coaching ethos
  • Able to work on-site, remotely, or internationally, as required
  • Unimpeachable integrity
  • Willing to undergo and confident of obtaining UK security clearance
