Friends of the Elderly (FotE) is a not-for-profit charity dedicated to providing excellent care with a family feel, we have been supporting older people for over 120 years. The charity provides care home and day care services for older people, as well as grants for older people in financial difficulty. Redcot, specialising in residential care, is set in the delightful town of Haslemere, Surrey.
We are recruiting for a Maintenance and Compliance Technician to join the team.
Role Overview
Joining us as a Maintenance and Compliance Technician, you will be working as part of a dedicated team to ensure the care home environment is safe, well-maintained, functional, and legally compliant, with particular attention to the needs of residents, including those living with dementia. The role involves performing regular compliance checks and maintaining appropriate records, routine maintenance and repairs, to maintain a safe and comfortable environment that supports residents’ wellbeing ensuring the home meets Care Quality Commission (CQC) standards.
Qualifications & Experience
- Experience in caretaking and/or maintaining older buildings along with building trade and property repair/maintenance skills.
- Relevant qualifications (e.g. Health & Safety, Legionella awareness, Pat Testing, Asbestos Awareness).
- Awareness of statutory compliance responsibilities and Health & Safety.
- Experience liaising with and overseeing contractors to ensure adequate resources and planning.
- Basic knowledge and proven experience of plumbing, electrics and general building maintenance.
- Good record keeping and communication skills (written and verbal).
- Experience in using Microsoft Office applications and Microsoft 365 tools.
- Able to work on your own initiative, prioritising works and organising your own time and workload effectively.
