FSW Ltd is one of the UK’s leading refrigeration and air conditioning wholesalers. We have 27 sites throughout the UK and Ireland and are continuing to grow. We are looking to recruit a Warehouse Operative/Driver to join our busy, dedicated branch based in Birmingham.

To fulfil this role, you will have a good standard of education including maths and English, and proven experience of dealing with customers and working within a driver capacity (up to 3.5 tonne vehicle).

The main duties of the role include:

  • Making sure that your personal appearance is smart, and you wear the uniform provided and that you provide a professional customer first attitude with all customers/branches.
  • Handling fragile packages and parcels with care and adhering to manual handling regulations – some heavy lifting e.g., of gas cylinders is a requirement of the role.
  • Communicating with customers by phone to update them of time of deliveries if there have been issues or changes to their estimated time of arrival.
  • Assisting in the warehouse to take delivery of goods for unloading, sorting, stacking and storage.
  • Processing/picking order requests for stock items for customer collection and /or delivery from the warehouse.
  • Accurately picking orders by processing requests in a timely and orderly manner.
  • Checking and packing orders for both internal and external customers.
  • Adhering to all health and safety requirements including always wearing appropriate PPE (PPE is provided), complying with all standards in place.
  • Undertaking all relevant training for the role.
  • Ensuring the warehouse is kept clean and tidy to always ensure a safe working environment.
  • Assisting in other warehouse functions and processes where required.
  • Planning efficient delivery routes throughout Bristol and surrounding areas to safely ensure goods are delivered in a timely manner to our customers, making sure the load is in good condition when arriving at the destination.
  • Complying with health and safety requirements, ensuring your vehicle is loaded safely, is roadworthy before every journey, through daily vehicle checks, reporting all vehicle defects to the Line Manager as appropriate for your branch.
  • Driving safely and following all laws and rules of driving to maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Always keeping your designated vehicle clean and tidy, both inside and out.
  • Maintaining communication with management to be informed of any change of delivery, route or schedule.
  • Informing management of any obstructions to making safe, efficient deliveries on time.
  • Keeping accurate records of deliveries and customer authorisation and ensuring all documentation is submitted to management on time.
  • Properly using and monitoring delivery equipment.

The successful candidate will be required to participate in the Company Out of Hours Standby Service on a rostered basis, which includes cover over Bank and Statutory Days Holiday. It would be an advantage if you have a Forklift Truck Licence, however, training can be provided. A full UK driving licence is required.
