We are supporting a high-performance automotive manufacturer in their search for a Supplier Quality Lead – Containment & Supplier Recovery to join their Surrey-based manufacturing team on a contract basis.

This is a hands‑on leadership role, managing a small team of Supplier Quality Engineers while driving supplier containment, corrective actions, and recovery activities to protect manufacturing operations and improve supplier performance. You will work across the full supplier base and commodity portfolio, with particular focus on Body-in-White (BIW), Exterior, Interior, and Carbon Fibre components.

Role Overview

You will lead supplier containment and recovery activities across a portfolio of suppliers, acting as the escalation point for critical quality issues and working closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing, and suppliers to minimise disruption and deliver sustainable improvements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support a team of Supplier Quality Engineers
  • Manage supplier containment and recovery activities, including CSL1 and CSL2
  • Drive root cause analysis and corrective actions using 8D and 5 Whys
  • Review containment plans, recovery actions, and exit criteria
  • Monitor supplier quality performance and report on risks and progress
  • Work cross‑functionally to resolve supplier quality issues
  • Manage third‑party containment providers where required
  • Experience in Supplier Quality within automotive or advanced manufacturing
  • Previous experience leading supplier containment and recovery activities
  • Team leadership or mentoring experience
  • Strong knowledge of APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plans, GD&T, and structured problem‑solving
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment
  • Must have the independent right to work in the UK (no sponsorship available)
