About the Role

We are looking for an experienced CNC Machinist to join our manufacturing team.

This is a hands‑on role for someone who can independently programme, set and operate CNC machinery to produce high‑quality precision components.

The successful candidate will have experience on either CNC lathes or CNC milling machines and will be confident taking jobs from engineering drawings through to finished components while maintaining the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Programme, set and operate CNC lathes or CNC milling machines.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
  • Select appropriate tooling, fixtures and cutting parameters.
  • Produce first‑off components and carry out in‑process inspection.
  • Adjust machine offsets and tooling to maintain dimensional accuracy.
  • Inspect completed parts using measuring equipment including micrometers, verniers, bore gauges and height gauges.
  • Maintain quality standards and ensure components meet customer specifications.
  • Work to production schedules while maintaining efficiency and quality.
  • Carry out routine machine maintenance and keep equipment clean and organised.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within the machine shop.
  • Follow all company health and safety procedures.

Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience programming, setting and operating CNC machinery.
  • Experience with either CNC turning or CNC milling.
  • Ability to programme directly at the machine or edit existing programmes.
  • Strong understanding of engineering drawings and geometric tolerances.
  • Experience using precision measuring equipment.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and a proactive approach.
  • Experience with Fanuc, Siemens, Heidenhain or Mazatrol controls online programming
  • Offline programming experience (e. g. One CNC, Fusion 360, Mastercam or Edgecam).
  • Experience machining a range of materials including steels, stainless steels, aluminium and exotic alloys.
  • Apprenticeship or recognised engineering qualification.
